City Expected to Proceed With the Sale of City Owned Property

KWBG 09/18/22

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council will be meeting Monday evening at the Boone City Hall. The Council does have a resolution to consider on an offer made to purchase city owned property in downtown Boone. The Overland Group, LLC has made the offer to purchase commercial property at 628 Story Street as a proposed site for a new Dollar General Store. The resolution is part of the process when an appropriate offer is made on property. It sets out the time frame for competitive bidding and the proposed selling of the property should no bids be received. The Overland Group, LLC acquires commercial property for development for a number of business clients including Dollar General.

The council meeting will be streamed and is available at this link:

Meeting ID:  879 2598 1403

Passcode: 006852

Phone: 1-301-715-8592 or 1-253-215-8782

Prior to the Council Meeting, the Council’s Policy, Administration and Employee Relations Committee will be meeting to review internal candidates wishing to be considered for the Director of Public Works position. Earlier this month, John Rouse submitted his letter of resignation indicating his intent to retire. Last year, Rouse stepped away from Public Works and remains as Parks Director. The city’s intent was to hire an engineer for the Public Works Director position. That effort has not been successful. Waylon Andrews has been handling many of the day to day responsibilities for the department.
