BOONE, Iowa—Albert “Al” Hugh Miller, age 73, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Central Christian Church, 803 Greene Street, Boone, Iowa. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden, Iowa.
Born on December 27, 1948 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Al was the son of Albert and Bertha (Montgomery) Miller. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in Colorado in 1967. Al attended DMACC and Iowa State University and obtained his Associates Degree.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Hunter on May 1, 1993 at Central Christian Church in Boone. Over the years, Al worked at McDonalds, where he met Barb, Gates Rubber Company, and Barilla in Ames before his health forced him to retire in 2012.
Al enjoyed reading, journaling and following politics. He was writing a book entitled “How Far We’ve Come”. Al’s faith was very important to him. He read the Bible regularly and was a long-time member of Central Christian Church.
Al is survived by his wife, Barb of Boone; children: Jody (Matt) Miller of Boone and Kevin (Mallory) Hunter of Ogden; and a granddaughter, Ella Hunter. Al is also survived by his sister-in-law Kathy Carlson of Atkins, Iowa and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law Dennis Carlson and sister-in-law Janice Lindeman.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left for Al’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
