KWBG 11/24/22

BOONE, Iowa—Everett O. Thrasher, Sr., 86, of Boone, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Cornerstone Alliance Church, 111 6th Street, Boone. Burial will be at the Ontario Cemetery in Ames.

Everett was born October 29, 1936, in Ames, the son of Grace (Newmann) and Oscar Thrasher, Sr.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. For more than 31 years Everett was married to Karen and they enjoyed a great life together. Whether it was fishing, camping, listening to country music, or chasing their numerous dachshunds around, they lived a full life together.

Everett was fond of NASCAR racing and enjoyed going to the Boone speedway. He listened to country music and every Saturday would turn on Daniel O’Donnell, for he and Karen to enjoy. Everett was a man of few words, but he meant what he said and everyone listened when he spoke.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sophina Mae in early childhood; two brothers, Junior O. Thrasher and Oscar O. Thrasher, Jr; sister, Adelle Randolph; son, Ricky; daughter, Theresa Little, and son-in-law, Duane Smith.

Everett is survived by his wife Karen Thrasher; two sisters, Roxanna Thompson and Mara Webb; four sons, Everett Oscar Thrasher, Jr., Tarry Ray Thrasher, Timmy Dale Thrasher, and John Joseph Thrasher; daughters, Laura Smith and Tammi Schappaugh; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be left for Everett’s family at www.adamssoderstrum.com.
