Kevin Majors

KWBG 12/27/22

BOONE, Iowa—Kevin Majors, age 61 of Boone, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

Kevin Ray Majors was born on January 10, 1961 in Waukegan, IL, the son of Gwendolyn Valentine. At a young age, Kevin began laying sod then went on to construction where he learned many skills and lessons.

Kevin was united in marriage with Sue Lonergan in 1980. From this union were two children, Kevin Ryan and Stephanie Nichole. The couple later divorced.

Kevin served in the National Guard. In 1980, Kevin started his own business, Majors Concrete Co. Kevin has worked with numerous businesses in the Boone and Ames areas over the years.

In his earlier years, Kevin enjoyed bowling and being a DJ. Kevin loved his family most of all. He adored his granddaughters and cherished their time together. Kevin would joke with everyone he liked, sometimes just calling to ask about politics then hang up once he got a rise out of them. He was a walking encyclopedia, a great communicator and business man.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Gwendolyn (Valentine) Craven; and brother, Richard. He is survived by his children, Ryan Majors (fiancé, Nikki Evans) of Boone and Stephanie (Benjamin) Landis of Ankeny; granddaughters, Kaylee and Riley Landis; siblings, Rex (Linda) Kinsey, Dennis (Petie) Kinsey, Catherine Krause, Pamela Kinsey, Debbie Riedesel, Tammy Hougham, Jeff (Stacy) Craven, Stacie Cazett McClure and Mindy (Dallas) Buck; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.

Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Fareway Conference Center at the Cobblestone Inn & Suites in Boone. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
