Mayor, Council Encourage Boone Residents to Sign up for City Updates

KWBG 01/04/23

BOONE, Iowa—Speaking at the city council’s first meeting of the new year, Mayor John Slight and
council members encouraged Boone residents to sign up on the City’s website for ongoing information updates.

“The process is very simple and takes less than a minute to complete. Getting the ball rolling is as simple as logging onto www.boonegov.com, scrolling down to the box on the right side of the page that reads, ‘Sign up for eNotify and clicking on it,’” Slight said. “When you do that, the ‘Subscribe to a Mailing List’ page appears. Type in your email address, click the boxes next to the announcements or agendas
you’d like to receive and then click on the ‘Submit’ box. It really is as simple and easy as that.”

Councilman B.J. McGinn, who has represented Ward 2 since January 2016, praised the city staff for its efforts to upgrade the website. “It’s certainly more user-friendly. It will make it much easier for Boone residents to be informed about what’s going on with their government, and it’s an opportunity to encourage more public involvement,” McGinn said.

Ward 1 Councilman David Byrd agreed, adding, “Government works best when citizens are informed, energized, and involved. I hope, as I know the rest of my colleagues on the council do, that our constituents will respond enthusiastically to the eNotify feature and that it will also lead to greater public participation in our community to make it an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
