Boone County Sheriff’s Department Releases Additional Information on Chase Incident

KWBG 01/09/23

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has provided some updated information regarding a chase that occurred on the north end of Boone County and ended in Webster County on Tuesday, January 3rd. A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday, January 4th by Webster County authorities. The Sheriff’s Department released information on their Facebook page last Friday evening.

Post from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department:

On 1/3/2023 Deputy Quinn was patrolling in the northeast part of Boone County when he came across a white pickup truck matching the description of a person that was wanted for a parole violation. Deputy Quinn followed the vehicle and attempted to perform a traffic stop. The driver fled the scene. The pursuit led Deputy Quinn into Hamilton County and ultimately ended in Webster County. Other law enforcement agencies assisted with the pursuit. Hamilton County, Webster County, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DNR, Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement, and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office all participated. The vehicle drove into a farm wooded area north of Dayton. A perimeter was set up around the area. Boone County K9 was called to the scene to assist with tracking the male identified as Bradley L Habben 36, of Dayton, IA. Several agencies flew thermal drones over the area in an attempt to locate Habben. The Boone Police Department also came to the scene and assisted with their drone. Habben was not captured and managed to escape the scene. The Boone County K9 Sampson did locate an AR 15 gun hidden along the suspects track near the abandoned truck.

Bradley Habben was later captured without incident at another residence in Dayton in the evening of 1/4/2023 by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office.

Multiple charges are pending from Boone County and other agencies in addition to the original charges.
