Harrison Strable

OGDEN, Iowa—Harrison “Squeak” Strable, Jr., 71, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 8, 2023 with his family by his side.  

A memorial service for Squeak will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Cornerstone Church in Boone, Iowa, with Pastor King Smith officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.  Arrangements were entrusted to Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.  For online obituaries and condolences, please visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com

Harrison Hoover Strable, Jr., son of Harrison and Constance (Bennett) Strable was born on October 15, 1951 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  He received his education from the Des Moines Public Schools.  While in high school, he attended Des Moines Hoover and then transferred to Des Moines East.  Following his education, Squeak began his career at Chicago Northwestern which later became Union Pacific Railroad where he was a train conductor for over 42 years.

On July 23, 1988 Squeak was united in marriage to Loni Myrell in Des Moines. The couple resided in several communities throughout central Iowa.

Squeak was a member of the Union Pacific Railroad Union. He enjoyed building things, NASCAR racing, reading, landscaping and caring for his yard.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Mathew; sister, Jan; and brothers, Jerry, John, Jack and Jim.

Survivors include his loving wife, Loni Strable of Ogden; two daughters, Robin (Wade) Good also of Ogden, and Kimberley Williams of Perry; three sons, Brian (Amy) Strable of Ankeny, Bradley (Heather) Strable of San Antonio, TX, and Larry (Alissa) Thomas of Cave Creek, AZ; 12 grandchildren, Clay, Shane, Ashley, Dylanger, Jenna, Kennedy, Addison, Langston, Landen, Ellyson, Evelyn, and Brandon; and one great granddaughter, Scarlett.
