BOONE, Iowa—As expected, a petition has been submitted, calling for a Special Election for Boone County Sheriff. The Boone County Auditor’s Office released this statement Monday afternoon:
On Monday, January 16th, 2023 the Boone County Auditor’s office received a petition for
Special Election to fill the vacancy of Sheriff. The petition has been reviewed and accepted for
filing, per Iowa Code 69.14A / 331.306. Petitions which have been accepted for filing are valid
unless written objections are filed with the County Auditor within five working days after the
petition was filed. The special election will be scheduled at the earliest practicable date.
