Eloise Davis

BOONE, Iowa—Eloise Davis, age 74, passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 13, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Boone. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Gardens.

Eloise Mae Runyan was born on December 4, 1948 in Boone, Iowa the daughter of Olive Kelley Runyan and Norman Runyan.

Eloise was united in marriage to Gregory J. Davis on December 11, 1964 in Boone, Iowa. From this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Marchelle and Melissa, and one son, Scott.

Eloise worked at Boone County Hospital and Randy’s Meats. Her favorite “job” was caring for her grandchildren when they were young.

Eloise enjoyed attending races, fishing and camping in Minnesota, gardening, jigsaw puzzles and shopping. She attended many of her kids and grandkids school and sporting events. She had quite a sense of humor and was joking with others right to the end.

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Olive Hruska in 1964 and Norman Runyan in 1991, sisters Norma Jean and Sandy and brothers Glen, Neal, and Bob.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gregory; daughters Chelley (Chris) Clark, Melissa (Ken) Hilsabeck; son Scott (Bobbi Jo) Davis; grandchildren Alicia (Darryl) Johnson, Jonathan Clark, Greg (Hillary) Hilsabeck, Kendall Hilsabeck, Alex (Caisha) Davis, Stefanie Muller, Jo Smith, Daniel Smith, and Harley Phipps; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Adeline Hilts.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at 6th and Marshall in Boone and online condolences may be left for Eloise’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Family of Eloise Davis for future charitable contributions.

Eloise’s family would like to thank Dr. Trisha Filipiak and Suncrest Hospice for the exceptional care that she received.
