Posted on 10 April 2023 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—On April 6, the Boone Community School District hosted Chad Aldis, the newly
appointed director of the Iowa Department of Education.

During his visit, Aldis had the opportunity to learn about the wide range of academic programs and
opportunities available to students. At Boone High School, he observed students working on
authentic projects in collaboration with the district’s business partners.

In addition, Aldis participated in the launch of the district’s new Certified Nursing Assistant
apprenticeship program. The program is a collaboration between Boone County Hospital and Mary
Greeley Hospital, which will provide students with hands-on experience in the healthcare field.

“We were honored to be the first school district to host Mr. Aldis as the new director at the
Department of Education,” said Julie Trepa, Superintendent. “We appreciate his time and enjoyed
hosting him as he discovered the Boone EDGE!”

The Boone EDGE refers to the district’s commitment to preparing students for postsecondary success through collaborations with area businesses. The program is driven by the vision of “Empowered Desire, Guided Experience.”
