BOONE, Iowa—The FFA Big Event 2023 kicked off Spring as 15 members of the Boone A&M FFA performed incredible volunteer work for the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum at the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad. FFA students tackled the following tasks; installed 100 bags of mulch in all museum gardens, cleaned inside a museum railroad caboose, cleaned windows and countertops, washed walls, did yard work, and cleaned light fixtures.

Mike Wendell, Administrator for The James H. Andrew Railroad Museum said they are truly thankful for these hard working, and courteous FFA members who accomplished so much in the morning for the museum.

Back Row: Isaac Fursog, Natalie Riker, Ashlyn Lovig, Jenna Johnson, Ethan Halverson, Katlyn Walters, Mackenzie Sego, and Alex Tallman

The Big Event is a community service project where students in FFA at Boone High School complete a variety of tasks throughout the Boone community. Their goal is to “give back” and say thanks to the Boone community for their support.

FFA is a student organization for agricultural education students. FFA is an intra-curricular component of agricultural education. The Boone A&M FFA Chapter was founded in 1997 to promote premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. The National FFA Organization includes over 700,000 members with 7,999 FFA chapters across the United States of America.
