BOONE, Iowa—Maintenance work began Wednesday morning in Boone by the Union Pacific Railroad on railroad crossing at Story and Greene Streets. Both crossing were closed and will remain closed while the work is underway. Since there are multiple lines, rail traffic has also been slowed through the work area. City officials had requested that efforts be made to keep Crawford and Division Street crossings open while the work is underway. The initial request from the Union Pacific for the maintenance work was to have the crossings closed until Tuesday, June 6th. It’s hoped the work will be completed before then.
