OGDEN, Iowa—Farmers and ag service providers will have the opportunity to meet and discuss
concerns about tar spot, a new disease affecting corn fields, at a program on June 28th. Join Iowa
State University Extension and Outreach field agronomist Meaghan Anderson at Kacy Frantum’s
farm at 1674 J Ave., Ogden, Iowa, approximately ¼ mile north of E57 on J Ave. This meeting will
address concerns for identification, biology, and management of this new disease of corn.
While tar spot is still a new disease to central Iowa, it has been found across the entire state for
several years and may be a management concern farmers are hearing about. Come get your
questions answered regarding this new issue before it shows up in your corn this year!
This program will be held on June 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The program is free of charge and
open to the public. While we don’t require RSVPs, please contact Meaghan Anderson with any
questions or concerns at 319-331-0058 or mjanders@iastate.edu.
