KWBG 07/03/23

COON RAPIDS, Iowa—Glen Merle Maynard, 85, of Coon Rapids and formerly of Boone, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Inurnment with military honors will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

Glen was born on January 1, 1938, in Boone, the son of Earl and Vivian (Martin) Maynard. He attended school in Boone and graduated from Boone H.S. and went onto serve in the United States Air Force.

Glen met the love of his life, Donna Jean Ginter, and they were united in marriage on June 10, 1961. Glen later went onto serve in the Air National Guard for a few years.

Glen was a lifetime member of the Cornerstone Alliance Church in Boone, formerly known as the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Glen loved to joke around and was always keeping the nursing staff at the nursing home on their toes. They never knew what prank he was going to pull on them. Glen liked to chase the nurses with his remote-control semi. He enjoyed putting model cars together, watching old westerns, and he used to love reading Louis Lamour and Zane Grey books.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Vivian (Martin) Maynard and a brother, Dale Maynard.

Glen is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna Maynard; his four children, Vicki (Steve) Woody, Cindy Laube (Brian Ross), Mike Maynard, and Barb Coston (Tony Hefler); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Roberta Grabau and Shirley Riley; as well as many nieces and nephews

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Glen’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
