BOONE, Iowa—After walking about two-miles in the 4th of July Parade in Urbandale Tuesday morning, former Vice-President and current Republican presidential candidate Mike Pence made a stop in Boone, meeting with supporters during an event held at Midland Power Cooperative. Pence and his wife Karen were welcomed by Boone County GOP Chair Gary Nystrom and Midland Power CEO Bill McKim.
Pence spoke briefly about campaigning in Iowa and the similarities with Indiana. He also said he intends to do the “full Grassley”, visiting all 99 counties in Iowa before the caucuses next year. He responded to several questions from those gathered in the Midland Power conference room, responding the many pressing issues facing the electric cooperative and it’s members. The economy and inflation were high lighted. He also emphasized a need for more regulatory reform and focusing on incentives for development and innovation.
Pence did take time to greet many in the crowd, estimated at more than 150.
