BOONE, Iowa—RoseMary T. McNace passed away on her wedding anniversary, to be reunited with the love of her life, Bob, on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, in Boone. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 14, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 915 12th Street, Boone. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The family requests no flowers, memorials to be given to the Sacred Heart Improvement Fund, 915 12th Street, Boone, IA 50036.
RoseMary was born January 1, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa, to James H., Sr. and Beatrice (Lyons) McHugh. She graduated from Stanhope High School in 1950. She eloped with Robert L. McNace on July 7, 1951, to Harlan, Iowa. They lived in Boone all their lives and had five children, John, Mary, Michael, Thomas, and Ann.
RoseMary worked at the Boone County Hospital in admitting in 1961, and then went to the Boone County Board of Education from 1962-1977. In 1977, she started working for the Boone Community Schools in Media and Technology and retired in 1994. RoseMary and Bob enjoyed traveling locally and cross country with the BMW Motorcycle Club. Family vacations were spent attending horseshoe pitching tournaments with the American Horseshoe Pitching Association.
In retirement, RoseMary volunteered at Sacred Heart School and the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad and was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially taking care of the great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; son, Thomas; sister, Joann McHugh; along with four brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law.
RoseMary is survived by sons, John (Cheryl) McNace and Michael McNace, daughters, Mary (Dick) Youngblood, and Ann (Vern) Wright, all of Boone; grandchildren Alissa (Jeff) Boehner, Chris (Jenn) Burkheimer, Angela (Curt) Condon, Kathe Jo (Jason) Johnson, Katie (Eric) Siders, Andrea (Bob) Walsh, Amy Youngblood, Amber Youngblood (fiancée Albert Westberg), McKinley Wright, and Garret Wright (partner Taylor Andrews); great-grandchildren, Sam (Aira) Ashlock, Emily Ashlock (significant other Wyatt Usery), Cooper Condon, Lauren Johnson, Reilynn Martin (fiancé Bryce Anderson), Liam Siders, Brezlin Siders, Nathan Walsh, Morgan Walsh, Landon Youngblood, Audrina Westberg; great-great-grandson, Abraham Ashlock; brother, James McHugh, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.
