BOONE, Iowa—Audrey Jane Paulson, 92, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Hearth Stone Memory Care in Boone. She had been a resident of Eastern Star Masonic Home since January of 2023.
Audrey was born on April 6, 1931, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Arthur and Edith
(Williamson) Powers. She attended Beadle State Teachers College, now Dakota State University. On June
28, 1953, she married James Jensen. After James’ death in 1998, Audrey married Gaylord Paulson on
August 6, 2000, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone.
Audrey was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and the ELCA Church Women United. She sang in
the church choir and cooked for Thursday fellowship luncheons for 23 years. She also cooked for the
Sigma Kappa sorority at ISU. Audrey enjoyed sewing, gardening, and canning fresh produce.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, James Jensen, and parents, Arthur and Edith Powers.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Gaylord Paulson; daughters: Marcia (John) Bade, Laurie (Jerry)
Wright, Annette (Jeff) Nading, and Kristin (Paul) Reimann; grandchildren: Laura Bade, Alex (Chelsea)
Bade, Tyler (Jacinda) Wright, Erin (Luke) Ryan, Joseph (Elizabeth) Wright, Jordan Wright, Alison (Brandon)
Dooling, Steven (Carly) Nading, Rachel Reimann, and Jenna Reimann; great-grandchildren: Kamden
Wright, Izzy Ryan, Henry Ryan, Teddy Ryan, Emma Dooling, Bennett Dooling, Avery Dooling, James
Nading, Samuel Nading, Peter Wright, and Oliver Wright; brother, Edwin (Galene) Powers, and sister,
Arliss Scholten.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone or the Women of
the ELCA.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Augustana Lutheran Church in
Boone. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at
Augustana Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Linwood Park Cemetery following the service.
