Keith Anderson

MADRID, Iowa–Keith A. Anderson, 75, of Madrid, passed away and went to meet his Savior in Heaven on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.

According to Keith’s wishes, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.

Keith was born August 15, 1948, in Davenport, Iowa. His parents were Elmer C. “Mike” and Estella (Arneson) Anderson. He attended and graduated from Grand Community School in Boxholm. Keith helped with the construction of Don Williams Lake.

Keith attended Boone Community College for one year and then was drafted by the US Army. He served in Vietnam from August 1968 until October 1969, when he was Honorably Discharged.

Keith was united in marriage to Cheryl Anderson on February 22, 1970, in Dayton, Iowa. They made their home in Boone, until moving to their current home in rural Madrid. Keith raised all kinds of livestock.

Keith worked a year at Quinn Machine and Foundry before being drafted, and then returned to Quinn’s from 1969-1975. He then was employed as a union carpenter/millwright for 28 years, and retired in 2008.

Keith was a member of the Boone VFW and took part in the Boone County Freedom Flight in 2015. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing both fast and slow pitch softball, and was in different pool and bowling leagues throughout the years. Keith looked forward to attending daily coffee at Wilson’s Tap in Boone, to catch up on the latest news.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Keith is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cheryl Anderson of Madrid; two sons, Terry Anderson and Cory Anderson both of Boone; granddaughter, Alyssa Anderson of Ogden; and other numerous family and friends.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Keith’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
