BOONE, Iowa—Patricia Louise Carter, age 90, of Ellsworth, formerly of Boone, passed away on January 6, 2024 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Burial will be at a later date.
Born on July 21, 1933 in Boone, Patricia was the daughter of Edgar and Edna (Needham) Hodges. She initially attended country school in rural Boone, before attending at Boone Community Schools.
She was a hard worker, often working two jobs while raising her six children mostly as a single mother. Patricia always had a large garden and enjoyed canning the produce. She was one of the original BINGO callers in Ellsworth, and was an avid BINGO player.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Linda Mason and Lawana Egland; 16 grandchildren; more than 40 great-grandchildren; more than 20 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Smith; and two brothers, Dale Hodges and Jim Hodges.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, John Laube and Virgil Carter; daughters, Cyndy Anderson and Donna Barkmeier; sons, John Laube and David Laube; and a grandson, William Brown.
