OGDEN, Iowa—The Ogden Community School District has named Shea Jones as the district’s Secondary Dean of Students for the 2024/2025 school year.
Shea is a passionate educator with eight years of experience, including seven years as a science teacher in the Des Moines and Johnston School Districts, and one year as an instructional coach at Lincoln High School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Iowa State University, teacher licensure from Morningside College, and a Master of Educational Administration from Iowa State University.
Superintendent Joshua Heyer said, “Mrs. Jones brings a wealth of experience, passion and knowledge about working with student and adult learners to Ogden. Shea believes the key to success is building relational capacity with each stakeholder. She has positively impacted each district she has served over the years and we are thrilled to have her join our team later this year.”
Shea resides near Bouton, Iowa, with her husband, Darrick, and their children, Addelynn (8) and Declan (5). She is deeply rooted in family life and has a passion for community. Jones said, “I am thrilled to be part of a small-town environment, eager to contribute to the success of the school district and its students, drawing inspiration from my upbringing in Woodward and the amazing achievements for neighboring communities like Ogden.”
A strong candidate pool was reviewed the first week in February. Screening interview were conducted on February 13th. Jones interviewed with mixed groups consisting of students, teachers, and district leaders on February 20, 2024.
Jones will officially begin serving Ogden Middle School and Ogden High School effective August 1, 2024.
