Pearl Cole

BOONE, Iowa—Pearl L. Cole, 91, of Boone, and formerly of Des Moines, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Ms. Cole was born in Boone, on April 4, 1932, the daughter of Edna (Johnson) Cole and Ephraim Ball and stepdaughter of James Ernest Cole.  She attended school in Boone and graduated from Boone High School in 1950.

Pearl married Elmer Warman in 1963, they later divorced. She retired in 1986, after 34 years of service at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Des Moines. Pearl also worked at Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Denver CO. 

Pearl was a member of the Des Moines Telephone Pioneers of America, First Baptist Church in Boone and a former member of Mineral Ridge Baptist Church in Ridgeport, IA.  She enjoyed sports, traveling, playing cards and growing flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jim, Walter, Raymond and Donald; two sisters, Sharon Cole, and Alice (Joe) LeQuia.

Pearl is survived by two sisters, Betty (Rawleigh) Mowrer of Boone and Shirely (John) Culberhouse of Roseburg, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the First Baptist Church, 612 8th Street in Boone.  Visitation will be held an hour before the services at the church. Burial will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery, Ridgeport. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.  Online condolences may be left to Pearl’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
