BOONE, Iowa—Mary Elizabeth Jones, 96, of Boone and formerly of Ogden, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, at Westhaven Community in Boone.
Mary was born November 3, 1927, in Woodward, IA, the daughter of John and Ora (Hoskinson) Fosenburg. She attended North High School in Des Moines.
Mary was united in marriage to Robert C. Jones on December 30, 1947, in Omaha, NE, and to this union four children were born. They later divorced.
Mary worked for 20+ years at Iowa State University until she retired. After retirement, she started a parttime cleaning business and volunteered at the Boone County Hospital and at area nursing homes. Mary loved to dance, the outdoors, working in the yard, playing cards, watching T.V., 50’s and 60’s music, taking walks, nature rides through the Ledges, keeping active and was an avid coffee drinker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; five sisters; and a son-in-law, Sam Clauson.
Mary is survived by her four children, Susan Clauson, Bob (Rae) Jones, Tim Jones and Jill Dobson; seven grandchildren, Scott Clauson, SaLynn (Bruce) Conley, Greg Clauson, Ryan (Andrea) Jones, Jessica (Joe) Rodriguez, Elizabeth Dobson and Joey Dobson; ten great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Ron Davidson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Friday at the chapel. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
