BOONE, Iowa—Norene Ruth (Brundage) Abrahamson, 84, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024 in the Hospice Unit at Boone County Hospital with her loving family by her side. Her body has been cremated and inurnment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Norene was born January 12, 1940 to Vincent C. (Chick) and Olive Mae (McCoy) Brundage of Luther, Iowa, the first of 7 children. She attended school in Luther and graduated from United Community High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to Stanley Abrahamson on February 14, 1959.

Living family members include: her husband of 65 years, Stanley of Boone, daughters Brenda Abrahamson of Charles City and Penny Mogged (Jim) of Lindenhurst, IL, and sons Wayne Abrahamson (Kathy) of Boone and Alan of Lenexa, KS.

Norene is also survived by 4 sisters and one brother: Lillian Carlson (Gayle) from Alamo, TX, Marge Strachota (Paul) from Alamo, TX, Patricia Sampson (Dick) from Georgetown TX, Rich Brundage from Garfield, AR, and Christine Petersen (Tom) from Severance, CO.

She had 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of “baby kids” from her 48 years of providing in-home daycare.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Carol (Tom) Pestotnik.

A Celebration of Norene’s Life will be held on July 6, 2024 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course, 601 South Cedar Street, Boone, IA from 3:00-6:00.
