Lower Ledges Closed to Traffic Due to River Levels, Canyon Road Due to Overnight Rainfall

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Road Department has announced that the Lower Ledges Entrance on Oriole Road is closed due to water over the roadway and will remain closed until the water recedes. Park Manager Andy Bartlett says the water is over the road near Camp Hantesa south to almost the Carl Fritz Henning Shelter. He also reported that the boat ramp and the flood pole parking lot are closed as a result. In addition, the Canyon Road is closed to vehicles due to the flash flooding from overnight rainfall. The Boone Water Environment Station reported 1.29 inches of rain as of 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
