BOONE, Iowa—Tuesday’s Primary Election, used to set the General Election Ballot in November for Democratic, Libertarian and Republican candidates, had a pretty low voter turnout. Just under 1,300 ballots were cast for the three parties. That’s roughly a 6.5 % voter turnout.

The race that drew the most votes was the Republican slate of candidates for Boone County Supervisor. Six candidates were seeking to be selected to fill two positions on the November ballot. Supervisor Erich Kretzinger picked up 625 votes, 39%. He was followed by Scott Longhorn with 272 votes just over 17%, Dave Youngren with 256 votes just over 16%, Evan Sinclair received 208 votes or just over 13%, Corey Stockman 122 votes over 7.5% and Twila Ingham 100 votes about 6.3%. The percentage is important because 35% is needed to move on from the Primary. Boone County Republicans will need to meet to select their second candidate.

Fourth District Congressman Randy Feenstra won in Boone County over Kevin Virgil, 644 to 262.

All other candidates on the ballots for Democrats, Libertarians and Republicans were unopposed and move on to the general election. All results are unofficial pending a canvas by the Boone County Supervisors
