BOONE, Iowa—Wanda Lingren, 76, of Boone, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street in Boone. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery.
Wanda was born July 26, 1947, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of Gaylord and Mabel (Lawson) Rush.
Wanda was united in marriage to Larry Lingren on January 30, 1982, in Boone. They had a wonderful life together and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas. Wanda and Larry lived 13 years in California and wintered for 17 years in Texas and moved back to Boone in 1999. Wanda loved garage sales and gambling.
Wanda was diagnosed with lung cancer in August of 2023. She then spent several months in home hospice care, where Larry took wonderful care of her, along with her hospice nurses. Wanda felt very fortunate to be in hospice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gaylord and Mabel Rush; and a sister, Barb Lorentzen.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 42 years, Larry Lingren; son, Jeff (Laurel) Hunter; two step-daughters, Wendi Olerich and Lynnell (Scott) Loudon; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandsons; sister, Susan Shaw; two nieces and two nephews.
