Sharon Holmberg

KWBG 07/25/24

BOONE, Iowa—Sharon A. Holmberg, 85, of Boone, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Westhaven Community in Boone.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Sharon was born October 9, 1938, in Boone, the daughter of Ralph B. and Elizabeth (Wallace) Jackson. She attended school in Boone and graduated from Boone High School in 1957.

Sharon was united in marriage to Marvin Holmberg on September 6, 1959, in Boone. She worked at Boyd’s Dairy while in high school and then at Boesen and Salamas Greenhouse in Boone.

Sharon was always fascinated with bookkeeping, since her father was a bookkeeper with the railroad. This fascination led to a career as a bookkeeper and numerous businesses in the Boone area. Sharon and Marvin volunteered for a number of years, from the time the giftshop first opened, at the Scenic Valley Railroad.

Sharon was a member of Central Christian Church. Her hobbies consisted of sewing, cooking and baking, decorating cakes for special occasions for family and friends, gardening, and watching house makeover shows. The most important things to Sharon were family and God.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elizabth Jackson and brother, Ralph E. Jackson.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 64 years, Marvin Holmberg; son, James Marvin Holberg; daughter, Leisa (Joe) Passet; six grandchildren, Joshua (Jocelyn) Holmberg, Timothy (Keely) Passet, Heather Ann Jarvis, Holly (fiancé, John Fleming) Passet, Abigayle Holmberg and Thomas Holmberg; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Charlotte Anderson, Janet Cross, and Judith Rossey; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Sharon’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
