Two Displaced by Early Morning Fire

BOONE, Iowa—Boone Firefighters spent four hours Tuesday morning extinguishing a house fire at 1239 8th Street in Boone, east of the intersection of Benton and 8th Street. Firefighters responded to the call about 1:30 a.m. today and returned to the station about 5:30 a.m. Firefighters report the most serious damage was contained to one room, but the ceiling had to be be pulled down to expose the attic. There was smoke and water damage as well. The exact cause of the fire has not been determined.

Firefighters were assisted by Boone County Emergency Management, Director Chris Hayes assisted in getting the displaced residents relocated. Boone County Ambulance was on standby and Boone Police provided traffic control.

Boone County records indicate the property is owned by Robert Pepples.
