Both the Madrid and Ogden cross country teams competed in the Madrid Invitational at Grants Woods Park near Madrid Thursday, Sept. 5.
The Class 1A No. 1 Madrid Tigers won the girls meet, while the Class 1A No. 6 Ogden Bulldogs won the boys meet.
For the Tiger girls, sophomore Madelyn Grothus finished first with teammate junior Katelyn Brandhorst close behind in second.
Hannah Brandhorst completed the race in sixth while senior Mila Grothus and sophomore Adelyn White were ninth and tenth.
Madrid scored 20 points with 5 runners in the top 10.
For the Bulldog boys, Senior Jude Benbow led the way with a second-place finish.
Senior Brady Van Sickle finished third while the trio of senior Caden Lerdal, sophomore Thomas Bergstrom and freshman Myles Tromblay ended in fifth, sixth and seventh place.
Ogden scored 18 points with 5 runners in the top 7.
The Madrid boys finished third with 66 points. Sophomore Caleb Berberich was the top Tiger boy with an eighth place finish. Junior Cavin Pehl and senior Blake Renze ended in 11th and 12th.
The Ogden girls finished third with 74 points. The group of senior Samantha Lass, senior Addison Trusler and junior McKenzie Spencer finished 11th, 12th and 13th.
The Tigers next travel to the ISU Cross Country Course in Ames on Thursday, Sept. 12, while the Bulldogs next travel to Jefferson to compete in the Greene County Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 12.
