Boone hosted Raccoon River Conference opponent Ballard Tuesday, Sept. 10. Although the teams entered with similar records, the Toreadors lost the match in straight sets, 14-25, 11-25, 11-25.
The offense was sparked by senior Emma Wiebold who led the Toreadors with 6 kills. Juniors Madelyn Davidson and Tria Hoyle added 4 kills each.
Junior Jenna Johnson dished out 17 assists and led the way at the service line, going 6 for 6.
Sophomore Karsyn Smith also was perfect with her serves, going 3-3. Johnson and senior Danielle Eshelman each nailed one ace serve.
At the net, senior Hayleigh Lingo recorded 4 blocks for the Toreador defense while Davidson and junior Madilyn Barrett contributed 3 blocks each. Senior Addie Tungesvik ended with 10 digs.
The loss drops Boone to 0-2 in the Raccoon River Conference and 2-8 overall. Boone has a week off before its next match when it travels to Gilbert at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17.
