Toreadors triumph over Des Moines Hoover

It was a happy homecoming night in Boone as the Toreadors triumphed over the Des Moines Hoover Huskies, 56-0, on Friday, Sept. 13.

It was a happy homecoming night in Boone as the Toreadors triumphed over the Des Moines Hoover Huskies, 56-0, on Friday, Sept. 13. 

Boone scored in every quarter and led 35-0 at the half. 

The Toreador offense was led by junior Jude Baumgardner went 8 for 10 passing for 110 yards and found his receivers 2 times for touchdowns. He also had 64 rushing yards for 1 touchdown. 

Senior Lucas Boucher rushed 141 yards in 14 attempts and found the end zone for 2 touchdowns. 

Sophomore Maddox McIntyre only had 1 carry, but it was a 75-yard carry for a touchdown. 

Junior Tate Hollenkamp led the receiving corps with 3 receptions for 46 yards. 

Senior Dylan Bolton also had 3 receptions for 20 yards and 1 touchdown. Additionally, Bolton had 8 kick returns and went 7 for 7 on PATs. 

Senior Wes Van Pelt only had 1 reception, but it was a 9-yard reception for a touchdown. 

Defensively, junior Wesly Sharp who had 5 tackles, including 2 for loss, and 1 sack. 

Senior Justus Frese chalked up 5 tackles, and he picked off 1 interception for 42 yards. 

Junior Bodie Brogden recorded 4.5 tackles while seniors Pedro Gonzalez, Walker Smith and Tyson Shivers had 3 tackles each. 

The victory brings the Toreadors to 3-0 on the season. Hoover fell to 0-3. Boone makes the short drive to Gilbert on Friday, Sept. 20, to face the Tigers, who are rated No. 3 in Class 4A.
