The Madrid volleyball team lost a heartbreaker to Interstate 35 in 5 sets, 25-20, 20-25, 28-26, 18-25, 10-15, Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Truro.
Madrid served well and ended up at 92 percent as a team for the evening.
Freshman Rylin Velky led the Tigers at the line and was 18 for 19 with 5 aces.
Sophomore Paige Richards sent 20 for 21 serves over and recorded 5 service aces, and sophomore Iyla Fine was a perfect 16 for 16 with 1 ace.
Junior Samantha Springer dished up 11 assists, and junior Lauren Dvorak pounded 5 kills.
Sophomore Paige Richards ended with 56 digs for the defense, as Fine had 40 digs, and freshman Savannah Bradley recorded 37 digs.
The Tigers were strong at the net with senior Jillian Olmstead having 4 blocks and Dvorak ending with 3 blocks.
The Tigers drop to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the West Central Conference while Interstate 35 is 4-10 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Next week, Madrid hosts Pleasantville Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m. in conference play.
