Ogden boys win home cross country meet

All three Boone County schools had their boys’ and girls’ cross country teams travel to Don Williams golf course to compete in Ogden’s meet on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

All three Boone County schools had their boys’ and girls’ cross country teams travel to Don Williams golf course to compete in Ogden’s meet on Tuesday, Oct. 1. 

The Ogden boys ran well on their home turf, won the meet and scored 32 points.  

Boone finished in 5th place with 137 points, and Madrid ended in 7th place with 173 points. 

Ogden had 3 runners place in the top 6. Jude Benbow again was runner-up in 16:58.29. 

Myles Tromblay finished 5th in 17:31.10, and Brady Van Sickle ended 6th in 17:31.90. 

Thomas Bergstrom was 9th in 17:55.66, and Caden Lerdal finished 10th in 17:56.57. 

Myers finishes 7th and leads Boone 

Boone was led by Dorian Myers who finished 7th in 17:36.51. 

Blake Gradoville ended 24th in 18:57.94, and Calvin Cook was 29th in 19:13.61. 

Rounding out the scoring for the Toreadors were Sam Chesnut in 39th in 20:09.87 and Kam Lehman in 43rd in 20:15.31. 

Renze is top finisher for Madrid 

Blake Renze was the top finisher for Madrid, placing 12th in 17:59.67. 

Brody Buck was 32nd in 19:22.23, and Cavin Pehl ended 35th in 19:43.70 

Tate Lawson finished 50th in 20:29.01, and Aspen Englund was 52nd in 20:46.08. 

Teams competing at Don Williams were Ogden, Ankeny Christian, Collins-Maxwell, Woodward-Granger, Boone, Grand View Christian, Madrid, Pleasantville, Panorama and Central Decatur. 

Madrid will travel to Jewell to compete in South Hamilton’s meet on Thursday, Oct. 10. 

The Boone boys have their next meet Thursday, Oct. 3, at Perry.  

Ogden competes next on Thursday, Oct. 10 at Boone.
