The Madrid girls’ cross country team won the South Hamilton Invitational Thursday, Oct. 10, in Jewell.
The Tigers scored 59 points in their victory and had 3 runners in the top 6 and 5 runners in the top 25.
Katelyn Brandhorst led the way and placed 3rd in 19:55.70 while Hannah Brandhorst was 5th in 20:06.30.
Madelyn Grothus finished 6th in 20:08.30, and Mila Grothus placed 22nd with a season best time of 22:56.90.
The remaining scorer was Adelyn White who finished 25th in 23:02.70.
The Madrid boys also fared well finishing in 5th place with 107 points.
Adair-Casey-Guthrie Center won the meet with 53 points.
Blake Renze was the top Tiger and finished 6th in 18:16.50.
Next for the Tigers were Caleb Berberich in 20th place in 19:27.40 and Cavin Pehl in 24th place in 19:39.30.
Additionally, Kris Petersen finished 32nd in 20:12.50, and Tate Lawson was 35th in 20:30.90.
Next week, Madrid will run at the conference meet on Thursday, Oct. 17, in Guthrie Center.
Madrid competes in the West Central Conference against Pleasantville, Adair-Casey-Guthrie Center, Des Moines Christian, West Central Valley (Stuart), Woodward-Granger, Interstate 35 (Truro), Madrid, Van Meter and Panorama.
