The Boone football team scored early and often en route to a 40-0 shutout victory over Des Moines North on Friday, Oct. 11, in Class 4A district 5 play at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines.
The Toreadors were able to take a sizeable lead in the 1st quarter as they scored 5 times.
In the first minute of play, Jude Baumgardner scored on a 1-yard touchdown to go ahead, 7-0.
Shortly after, Tyson Shivers scored a safety and the score stood at 9-0.
Three passing touchdowns rounded out scoring for Boone in the 1st quarter.
Baumgardner found Bolton twice, first for an 8-yard touchdown and second for a 25-yard touchdown.
Then he connected with Lucas Boucher for a 64-yard touchdown, and Boone was ahead 30- at the end of the 1st quarter.
As time expired in the 2nd quarter, Bolton made a field goal, putting the Toreadors up 33-0 at the half.
The Toreadors scored one more time in the third quarter as Baumgardner found Bolton for the final touchdown, and Boone won 40-0.
Jude Baumgardner ended the night going 8 for 17 with 241 passing yards and 4 touchdowns.
Bolton had 6 receptions for 241 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns while Boucher had 1 reception for 79 yards and 1 touchdown.
Additionally, Tate Hollenkamp had 1 reception for 39 yards.
Baumgardner also had 3 carries for 10 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.
Lucas Boucher ended with 17 carries for 98 yards, and Dylan Bolton had 3 carries for 14 yards.
Bolton made 1 field goal and 5 PATs.
The Boone defense was led by Pedro Gonzalez with 5.5 tackles, including 4 solo tackles and 1 tackle for loss.
Shivers added 4.5 tackles, including 4 solo tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss while Joshua Ingram recorded 3 tackles, including 2 solo tackles.
Javier Casiano had 1 sack, and Dayne Brekke recorded 1 fumble reception.
Ajay Braddock ended with 2 interceptions for 31 yards, and Ingram had 1 interception for 11 yards.
The win improves Boone to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in district play.
The Toreadors will travel to Alleman to face North Polk, which is rated No. 1 in Class 4A in RPI (7-0 overall, 3-0 district) on Friday, Oct. 18.
