Boone swimmers compete at Johnston

The Boone swim team placed 7th and scored 59 points at the Johnston Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 12. Dowling Catholic (West Des Moines) won the meet with 327 points. 

The 200 medley relay of Avery Howie, Avery Overland, Claire Enabnit and Tessa Gute placed 6th in 2:04.86. 

The 400 free relay of Tessa Gute, Sara Gute, Claire Enabnit and Avery Howie were 7th in 4:11.52. 

The 200 free relay of Sara Gute, Avery Overland, Katelyn Brandhorst and Tessa Gute finished 7th in 1:57.62. 

Individually, Howie finished 6th in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.80 and 7th in the 50 free in 26.60. 

Enabnit finished 14th in the 100 fly in 1:11.92 and 15th in the 200 free in 2:18.12. 

Overland placed 15th in the 100 breast 1:21.22 and 19th in the 200 IM in 2:46.49. 

Savannah Witte placed 18th in the 500 free in 6:40.16, and Tessa Gute placed 19th in the 100 free. 

Hailey Olson placed 14th in 1-meter diving with a score of 239.60. 

Teams competing at Johnston were Dowling Catholic (West Des Moines), Northwest (Waukee), Waukee, Johnston, Southeast Polk, Lewis Central (Council Bluffs), Boone, Des Moines East and Ottumwa. 

The Toreadors host Carroll, Grinnell and Newton in a meet today.
