Ogden opens conference tournament with win

The Ogden volleyball team beat West Central Valley, 25-23 13-24 15-10, on Monday, Oct. 14, in the first round of the West Central conference volleyball tournament hosted by Des Moines Christian in Des Moines. 

The Bulldogs then lost to Des Moines Christian in the second round, 25-4, 25-11. 

Ogden served well against West Central Valley, going 94% from behind the line with 6 of 7 players serving 100%. 

Maliyah Sundell and Aubrey Leonard were 12 for 12 while Macy Bristle went 6 for 6 with 2 aces. 

The Bulldog offense was led by Sydney King with 6 kills and Camryn Askelsen with 3 kills. 

Sundell recorded 5 assists and Miranda Cook had 4. 

For the defense, Leonard had 13 digs and Sundell had 9. 

Sawyer Curry was strong at the net with 2 blocks. 

Ogden improves to 7-14 overall with the victory over the Wildcats. 

The conference tournament continues today. 

Odgen begins by playing Panorama and will play a second opponent which will be determined by the outcome of another game.
