The Boone boys’ basketball team topped Woodward Academy, 68-23, on Thursday, December 5, in Boone.
The Toreadors raced off to an 18-4 lead after the 1st quarter and were up, 46-12, at the half.
Boone had a 61-14 lead after the 3rd quarter and closed out strong, finishing 68-23.
Jude Baumgardner led the charge with 23 points on 9 field goals, 4 3-pointers and 1 free throw.
Tyson Shivers had 8 points on 3 fields goals and 2 free throws.
Wes Van Pelt had 4 assists, and Baumgardner and Dayne Brekke had 2 each.
Shivers led the defense with 12 rebounds, 3 blocks and 4 steals.
Baumgardner had 10 rebounds and 3 steals.
Devin Silbaugh had 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
Boone boys win season opener at Fort Dodge
Earlier in the week, Boone defeated Fort Dodge, 71-63, in its season opener at Fort Dodge.
Braden Brooks led the scoring with 20 points on 7 field goals, 3 3-pointers and 3 free throws.
Baumgardner had 4 assists.
Shives led the defense with 14 rebounds, 2 blocks and 4 steals.
Boone starts the season 2-0 and will travel to Huxley to face Ballard (2-0) on Tuesday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Raccoon River Conference play.
