Posted on 20 December 2024 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The staff from the Ledges State Park held their Annual Season Wrap Up meeting at the Boone City Hall Auditorium. Park Manager Andy Bartlett gave a brief presentation about a very successful year. Bartlett said that 2024 was nearing 4,000 volunteer hours, more than they’ve ever had before. He said over 700 volunteer hours can be attributed to the Centennial Celebration held on September 28th.

Those at the meeting were able to see a draft of the Ledges State Park Forest Stewardship Plan. Public comments on the plan are encouraged as park staff seek to incorporate public opinion into it.

Every year, Bartlett and Park Ranger Klint Peterson select a Volunteer of the Year. For 2024 that honor goes to Suzanne Thompson.
