Boone swimming wins meet in Des Moines

Issac Clark won 2 individual events and was on 2 winning relays as the Boone boys’ swim team won the Ken Gaeth Invite Saturday, January 4, in Des Moines.

Issac Clark won 2 individual events and was on 2 winning relays as the Boone boys’ swim team won the Ken Gaeth Invite Saturday, January 4, in Des Moines. 

The Toreadors scored 310 points and edged out Southeast Polk’s 309 points. 

Clark won the 100 breast in 1:06.14 and also won the 50 free in 22.06. 

In fact, Boone went 1-2-3 in the 50 free with Warren Williams in 2nd in 22.40 and Carson Mueggenberg in 3rd in 22.57. 

Those three, Clark, Williams and Muggenberg, along with Simon Enabnit were the members of the 200 free relay and 400 free relay, which both placed 1st. 

The 200 free relay finished in 1:31.24 and the 400 free relay finished in 3:20.11. 

Enabnit also placed 2nd in the 100 free in 49.11 while Enabnit was 2nd in the 200 free in 1:54.21. 

Chase Mueller finished 2nd in the 200 IM in 2:21.62. 

The 200 medley relay of Cooper Jensen, Calvin Cook, Cooper Santi and Carden Nerem finished 3rd in 151.26. 

Santi and Mueller also finished 4th and 5th in the 100 fly in 101.79 and 102.00, respectively, as Santi and Jensen finished 4th and 5th in the 100 back in 102.91 and 103.42, respectively. 

Team scores at the meet were Boone 310, Southeast Polk 309, Grinnell 153, Indianola 150, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, 117, and Des Moines East, 113.

The Toreadors will host Grinnell Thursday, January 9, at 5:30 p.m.
