The Boone boys’ basketball team topped Denison-Schleswig, 82-49, in a non-conference game Friday, January 17, in Boone.
The Toreadors led, 16-8, at the end of the 1st quarter and maintained that 8-point lead at the half, 33-25.
Boone broke open in the 3rd quarter and ended with a 55-39 lead before winning the game, 82-49.
Jude Baumgardner led all scorers with 22 points on 9 field goals and 4 free throws.
Braden Brooks added 20 points on 8 field goals and 4 free throws, while Hendrix Moorman had 10 points on 4 field goals, 1 3-pointer and 1 free throw.
Baumgardner dished out 5 assists, and Wes Van Pelt had 4.
Baumgardner also led the Toreador defense with 13 rebounds and 5 steals.
Tyson Shivers grabbed 10 rebounds and 1 block, and Brooks had 5 rebounds, 1 block and 3 steals.
The victory improves Boone’s overall record to 7-5 while Denison-Schleswig falls to 0-10.
Boone remains at home and returns to Raccoon River Conference play with the tough assignment of No. 1 Ballard (10-0 overall, 8-0) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 21.
