The Boone girls’ basketball team beat Denison-Schleswig, 53-28, in a non-conference game Friday, January 17, in Boone.
The Toreadors established a 10-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and increased it to 28-13 at the half.
Boone was ahead, 37-16, at the end of the 3rd quarter and the game ended, 53-28.
Macy Chesnut scored 20 points on 7 field goals and went 6-6 from the free throw line.
Shannon Jenkins added 7 points on 3 field goals and 1 free throw, while Bry Morgan had 7 points on 100% shooting on 3 field goals and 1 3-pointer.
Avery Howie added 6 points on 3 field goals, and Ava Johnson scored 6 points on 2 field goals, 1 3-pointer and 1 free throw.
Addie Tungesvik, Avah Hayes and Jenkins had 2 assists each.
Jenkins led the defense with 6 rebounds and 6 steals while Maleah Shivers grabbed 4 rebounds.
The Toreadors improved to 4-9 overall and the Monarchs fell to 2-9 overall.
Boone remains at home and returns to Raccoon River Conference play and faces Ballard (3-10 overall, 2-6 conference) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 21.
