Madrid girls beat Greene County

The Madrid girls’ basketball team fell to Woodward-Granger, 41-20, Tuesday, January 21, one day after beating Greene County, 58-35, in games at Madrid.

The Madrid girls’ basketball team fell to Woodward-Granger, 41-20, Tuesday, January 21, one day after beating Greene County, 58-35, in games at Madrid. 

The Tigers took an early 14-5 lead over Greene County at the end of the 1st quarter and remained ahead, 30-13, at the half. 

Madrid was up, 44-27, at the end of the 3rd quarter and secured the victory, 58-35. 

Against Greene County, Laura Eagleton led all scorers with 24 points on 10 field goals and 4 3-pointers. 

Jilliam Olmstead added 12 points on 5 field goals and 2 3-pointers and Lauren Dvorak had 8 points on 4 field goals. 

Olmstead had 6 assists while Audrey Brown had 4. 

For the defense, Olmstead had 10 rebounds, 1 block and 4 steals. 

Dvorak had 9 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal, and Eagleton grabbed 6 rebounds and 3 steals. 

Against Woodward-Granger, Eagleton again led scoring with 12 points while Dvorak added 6. 

Olmstead had 10 rebounds and 2 steals while Eagleton had 8 rebounds and 1 block. 

Madrid stands at 4-10 overall and 1-8 in the conference while Woodward-Granger is 9-6 overall and 4-4 in the conference. 

The Tigers face West Central Valley (11-5 overall, 7-3 conference) at 6 p.m. Friday, January 24 in Stuart. 

The Wildcats beat the Tigers, 32-22, last month.
