Winter Storm Warning Includes Boone County

BOONE, Iowa—The National Weather Service Office in Des Moines has update and expanded the Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory of Iowa. Boone County is now included in the Winter Storm Warning.

...SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY IMPACTING
MUCH OF IOWA...

.Snow is expected to begin toward midnight tonight over western Iowa
spreading into central and eastern Iowa after midnight. While snow
is expected statewide, the highest snow accumulations will be over
portions of central and southern Iowa with 5 to 8 inches expected.
Snow covered and slick roads should be expected and create for
hazardous travel. Snow rates will generally range from one quarter
to three-quarters of an inch per hour. Visibility will be reduced in
falling snow and blowing snow will also create minor to moderate
impacts. The snow will taper off from west to east late Wednesday
afternoon into Wednesday evening.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and
7 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of central northeastern, and north central Iowa.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to midnight CST Wednesday Night.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
