Boone teams fall in conference games

The Boone boys’ basketball team fell to Winterset, 50-44, Monday, February 10, in Winterset in Raccoon River Conference play.

The Boone boys’ basketball team fell to Winterset, 50-44, Monday, February 10, in Winterset in Raccoon River Conference play. 

Jude Baumgardner had 14 points on 6 field goals and 2 3-pointers against the Huskies 

Wes Van Pelt had 6 points on 2 field goals, 1 3-pointer and 1 free throw while Braden Brooks had 6 points on 1 field goal and 4 free throws. 

Broods had 3 assists while Van Pelt had 2. 

For the Toreador defense, Tyson Shivers had 7 rebounds and 1 steal 

Brooks grabbed 7 rebounds and 2 steals, and Baumgardner had 4 rebounds and 2 steals. 

Earlier in the evening, the Boone girls’ basketball team also lost to Winterset, 47-28. 

The teams also played a conference doubleheader on Tuesday, February 11, against Adel-DeSoto-Minburn in Boone. 

The girls lost to ADM, 57-13, in Boone before the boys were defeated, 84-57. 

The girls are 5-16 overall and 0-15 in the conference while the boys are 7-12 overall and 3-12 in the conference. 

The teams will host North Polk in the final doubleheader of the season with the girls playing the Class 4A, No 2, Comets (19-1, 15-0) at 6 p.m. and the boys playing North Polk (7-12, 3-12) at 7:30 p.m. 

It is senior night for the drill team and pep band, and the drill team will perform during halftime of the boys’ game. 

The games will be broadcast on AM 1590, FM 101.5, and streamed on kwbglive.com with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
