Boone and Ogden girls open track season indoors

It was the Boone and Ogden girls’ track teams turn to open their seasons at the Dickinson Relays inside the UNI Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on Monday, March 10.

It was the Boone and Ogden girls’ track teams turn to open their seasons at the Dickinson Relays inside the UNI Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on Monday, March 10. 

For Boone, Carly Busch placed 5th in the 60-meter dash in 7.98 and also was 8th in the 200-meter dash in 27.14. 

Busch, along with Halle Bailey, Avah Hayes, Avery Howie, was a part of the 4×200 meter relay which placed 28th in 1:55.07. 

In the field events, Emma Wiebold placed 9th in the shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 4 inches, while Jen La Mar was 10th with a throw of 35 feet 9 inches. 

For Ogden, Taydem Graden placed 3rd in the long jump with a jump of 18 feet ½ inch. 

Graden added 6 inches to her school record and the jump qualified her for the Drake Relays. 

Alena Wilson placed 25th in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet, 7 ½ inches. 

Graden also finished 35th in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.86. 

Samantha Lass placed 14th in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet. 

Sydney King placed 33rd in the 200 in 28.15, and Dakota Jones placed 35th in the 800-meter run in 2:40.42. 

The Ogden 4×200 relay placed 41st in 1:57.33.

Madrid will join Boone and Ogden to compete at the IATC Indoor Championships at Leid Recreation Athletic Facility on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames on Friday, March 14.
