Toryn Severson led the No. 2 Madrid boys’ basketball team to a victory over Boyden-Hull, 68-57, Wednesday, March 12, in the quarterfinals of the state basketball tournament in Des Moines.
Toryn Severson led all scorers with 30 points on 11 field goals, 1 3-pointer and 7 free throws.
Brody Buck added 14 points on 6 field goals, 1 3-pointer and 1 free throw.
Jevyn Severson had 14 points on 4 field goals and was a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line.
Fabian Ortiz-Alaniz scored 6 points on 2 3-pointers, and Emerson Bridgewater had 4 on 2 field goals.
Ortiz-Alaniz had 2 assists while Buck and Toryn Severson had 1 each.
The Tiger defense was led by Jevyn Severson with 9 rebounds.
Buck and Toryn Severson added 6 each while Severson also contributed 2 blocks and 2 steals.
Madrid improves its record to 26-0 while Boyden-Hull ends its season at 18-9.
Madrid plays No. 4 Fort Dodge St. Edmond (23-3) at 7:15 tonight at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines in a Class 1A state semifinal.
The winner of tonight’s game will advance to the Class 1A Champtionship Game at 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, and will play the winner of the Bellevue Marquette Catholic/Gladbrook-Reinbeck game.
