Robert Uthe

BOONE, Iowa—Robert E. Uthe, 101, of rural Boone, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Westhaven Community in Boone.

Robert Edwin Uthe was born October 31, 1923, at the home of his parents, John and Elizabeth (Mott) Uthe of rural Boone. He attended Jordan School and graduated in 1942.

On March 29, 1948, Robert was united in marriage to Pauline Lawler at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden. They farmed near Ogden for twenty years and southeast of Boone until retirement. Having spent many years farming, Robert was a good weather forecaster.

Robert was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone, former member of the Knights of Columbus and Boone County Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 70 years, Pauline in 2019; brothers Paul and George; sisters, Catherine Cezek and Rita Voss; great-grandson, Arthur Richard Peter; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert is survived by three sons, David Uthe of Boone, Richard Uthe of Ames, and Bruce (Michelle) Uthe of Ogden; two daughters, Joann Uthe of Boone and Diana (Rob) McLaren of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Wirth of Ames; sister-in-law, Kate Uthe of Boone; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Church of the Sacred Heart, 915 12th Street, Boone, with Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Ogden. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of the mass. The family requests that you are more than welcome to wear bib overalls to the mass, to honor Robert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to either Church of the Sacred Heart or Habitat for Humanity.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Robert’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
