Boone boys’ tennis remains unbeaten

The Boone boys’ tennis team beat Grinnell, 10-1, and South Tama, 9-0, Wednesday, April 16, at Tama.

The Boone boys’ tennis team beat Grinnell, 10-1, and South Tama, 9-0, Wednesday, April 16, at Tama. 

Against Grinnell, Boone swept the singles. 

No. 1 Owen Schneider won, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, and No 2 Devin Silbaugh won, 6-3, 6-4. 

No. 3 Tyler Lindahl won, 6-1, 6-2, and No 4. Wes Van Pelt 6-0, 6-1. 

No. 5 Braxtan Sproule won in super tiebreaker, 6-1, 1-6, 10- (10-7), and No. 6 Patrick Houser won, 6-0, 6-0. 

In doubles, No. 2 Schneider and Calvin Jordan won, 6-2, 6-1, and No. 3 Van Pelt and Houser won, 6-0, 6-2. 

No. 4 Brandon Holm and Strummer Grout won, 6-1, 6-1, and No. 5 Kyan Lehman and Sam Chesnut won 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3). 

Next, the Toreadors shut out South Tama. 

In singles, No. 1 Schneider won, 10-5, No. 2 Silbaugh won, 10-0 and No. 3 Lindahl, won 10-1. 

No. 4 Sproule won, 10-2, No. 5 Jordan won, 10-0 and No. 6 Holm, won 10-1. 

In doubles, No. 1 Silbaugh and Lindahl won, 8-0, No. 2 Wes Van Pelt and Patrick Houser won, 8-2, and No. 3 Grout and Logan Wickman won, 8-1.

The boys improved their record to 4-0 while Grinnell fell to 1-4 and South Tama fell to 0-4. 

The boys will play in a tournament Saturday, April 19 at Pella.
