Glenda Tullis

BOONE, Iowa—Glenda Rae Tullis, 77, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, in McAllen, Texas.

Glenda was born to Raymond and Helen (Weidaman) Peters in Le Mars, IA on September 17, 1947. She graduated from Lawton High School.

After high school she met the love of her life, Thomas Tullis. Tom and Glenda united in marriage in 1970. In their 54 years together, they brought into the world four children: Kelly, Troy, Michelle and Jennifer who were their parents’ pride and joy. They made their home in Sioux City for several years before moving to Boone in 1985.

A woman whose life was defined by love, connection and dedication to others. She developed bonds with people from all aspects of life. From school days through church, bowling in leagues in Boone to her Texas golf, bingo and cards, she never knew a stranger.

The past 15 years Glenda and Tom made their way to their second home in Mission, TX for six months out of the year. She loved the Texas weather either playing golf in the early years to playing cards, bingo and yahoo with her Texas friends. When back home in Boone she enjoyed following her grandchildren’s sporting events and hanging out at the dog park with her bestie, Amos.

Glenda’s family and friends were the center of her world. She was an active member of Sacred Heart parish in Boone, a woman of deep faith, Glenda’s belief in God and His eternal promise of external salvation through Jesus was the foundation of everything she did. Her faith guided her through life’s triumphs and challenges; it was a source of immense strength.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Helen Peters; father-in-law, Frank Tullis and mother-in-law, Monica Tullis, along with numerous aunts and uncles.

Glenda’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, friends and all who had the privilege to know her. Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband Tom, of 54 years, Kelly (Ron) Bunting, Troy (Jamie) Tullis, Michelle (Paul) Simpson, and Jennifer Lemke. Grandchildren, Courtney Bunting, Cody and Clay Tullis, Jadelyn, Presley and Tyler Simpson, and Jordan (Logan) Ashby and Walker Lemke. Great-grandchildren, Peyton, Caydence, Paxtyn and Arabella. Her sister, Sandy (Terry) Johnson, brother, Gary (Pat) Peters, sister-in-law, Terri Hahn and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Church of the Sacred Heart, 912 12th Street, Boone, with Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Boone.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Glenda’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
